Welcome to My Music Lessons Page!
I’ve been teaching private lessons for over 35 years and love it! Helping people of all ages to learn music is uniquely rewarding.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and in my studio, take a comprehensive approach to music lessons. Students learn how to read music and play the instrument while also gaining an in-depth understanding of music theory and how music works.
I also place a high priority on the development of personal strength and confidence. As a result, students in music lessons soon find themselves excelling in many other areas of life.
If you are interested in lessons for yourself or your child, take a look around and then feel free to contact me at the contact link. I look forward to hearing from you!
“…there is little doubt that regular exposure to music, and especially active participation in music, may stimulate development of many different areas of the brain. Takako Fujioka and her colleagues, for example, looking at children with a single year of violin training (compared to children with no training), recorded striking changes in activity in the brain’s left hemisphere. In terms of brain development, musical performance is every bit as important educationally as reading or writing.”

Testimonials
Amazing Teacher
"Colleen is the best thing I have done for my kids! She is such an amazing teacher. My kids are always excited and really look forward to going to lessons. She is dedicated to their progress and communicates with me so we can get them performing to the very best of their abilities. She meets with you and does regular progress reports that really helps you know where your child is excelling and where they might need more help. Unlike other teachers, Colleen takes the time and effort to make sure they really know the basics and can actually read music. They learn theory, scales, technique, proper posture and all the other fundamentals that are crucial to becoming a better musician and in turn a better person! We absolutely love Colleen and would recommend her to anyone and everyone we meet who wants to give their children the best chance for a successful and fulfilling future."

Professional Ability
"I am very pleased to have found Colleen. Her professional ability to help me relearn the trumpet has been awesome. I strongly recommend if you have the opportunity to take lessons from Colleen, do it. You will be better in your musical skills, for it."

Rare Talent
"I started French horn with Colleen in middle school and later also took piano lessons. Looking back, she gave me a solid foundation in both instruments as well as in composition and music theory. I later earned a Bachelor's Degree in classical music performance (Horn) and from my experiences with other teachers can say Colleen has a rare talent, both being excellent with kids as well as being able to accompany students on piano at a high level."
